Heno de primera calidad para conejos, cobayas, chinchillas y hámsteres
Premium quality, high protein, low carb, hay for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, and Chinchillas. Our fresh, green, and soft Teff hay, also known as “Love Grass”, is an excellent source of nutrition for small animals and large animals alike. Teff grass has a high fiber and protein content, soft stems, thin leaves, and nutritious properties. This promotes healthy digestion, better nutrient absorption, and easy consumption for your beloved furry friend.
We bale our hay into "miniature" small square bales approximately 40 oz (2.5 pounds), 12 inches long, 6 inches tall, and 5.5 inches wide. All our hay is grown on our family farm here in south central Nebraska. It is weed free, naturally grown, and sun-cured.
Teff Grass: known as an ancient grain, native to Ethiopia in Africa, Teff is a warm season, fine-stemmed grass with thin leaves and soft stems. In Africa it is grown for its fine and nutritious grain made into flower. However, over recent years in the U.S. it has been adapted to be grown as a forage because of its higher protein content and lower sugar concentration. This makes Teff grass a great alternative feed compared to Timothy, Orchard grass, and other forage feeds for small and large animals.
The protein content of Teff can range between 12%-14%+, while the protein content of the other grasses typically ranges between 8%-10%. While that may seem like a small difference, it can have a significant difference in your animal's diet and nutrition.
Teff is also a good alternative to sugar and starch sensitive animals because it tends to be lower in starches and nonstructural carbohydrates compared to the other grasses and forages. The sugar content of Teff ranges between 5%-10%, compared to grasses like Orchardgrass that can be as high as 20% and even higher in other cool season grass hays.
